Using Twitter solely for news purposes

Hello, everybody. I just purchased an iPhone and if I understand twitter correctly, it lets me keep up with stuff the moment it happens. I am very interested in using Twitter to keep up with the news, as many news organizations have twitter feeds (CNN, BBC, Al Jazeara, etc.).

I have twitter on my iPhone and their tweets show up on my phone, but I would like for them to make my phone rattle and take it out of sleep mode. How can I enable this?

Basically, I want new news headlines to appear on my phone every 30 minutes or so through twitter. How do I do this? I looked through the options on my phone and I cannot find anything.

Try subscribing to the best News feed via txt, the easy way is to text follow NEWSIDACCOUNTHERE to 40404 (make sure to have your cell phone number verified with Twitter). Also you can turn on mobile notifications via Twitter web. Some Twitter apps allow you to get push notifications from accounts you specify.

However, I must say if you want news updates without being overwhelmed why not use a News app like the APP or CNN that supports push notifications?
