Using the same word twice on URL. Is it bad?

    Hi everyone.

I'm using wordpress to build my website and I want to use sub-pages in order to everything become organized.

Thing is that, for example, I want the page "Sell on eBay" to be a subpage of the page "eBay" and wordpress make an url like mywebsite/ebay/sell-on-ebay.

Is there any problem with that? SEO problem I mean?

The basic of SEO is if it makes sense to your user then do it.

I would say that excessive use of a keyword in a URL might indicate you're trying to spam a search engine. But if all other factors show you aren't trying to manipulate rankings then the engines have nothing solid to go by because normal webmasters will occasionally duplicate keywords in their URLs anyway.

In your case, I don't think there's anything to worry about, especially if you're only including the same keyword twice.

But don't take me on my word, I have no specific experience in this.

Yeah I don't think you'd have a problem having a keyword more than once in a url. I'm sure many blogs do this with keywords in their tags and post title. Just don't overdo it and make every single page have repeated keywords.

Although there is no real proof that you will have problems, it does fit the concept of SPAMing.

May I suggest going to something "../Sell-On/eBay"

My general opinion is that it's best to stay clear of including keywords more than once in the URL.

However if it's too much hassle not to include the keywords twice then just go ahead with it anyway. In my opinion the chances of triggering a SPAM filter are extremely slim.
