You know I have used it a bit and have enjoyed the benifits. I created a few free blogs, squidoo pages, hub pages, articles, and linked them in a circle making sure to links them all to my money site. I am on top of the SERPs for a few of my wanted keywords and I think it played a part.
I think the regular link wheel isn't that effective anymore... some people say not closing the wheel makes it more effective, or try creating three interconnected wheels.
I'm not sure if I did something wrong or if it was because of the link wheel, but when I tried it my sites went from #2 and 3 for my keywords to 200 something. I panic. As soon as i got rid of all the links in the wheel, my sites went back to their original standings. Maybe google caught on to this scheme
I believe linkwheels are still working. But you have to be creative. It's not actually a wheel anymore. I build basically Horseshoes and other designs. Not so much "wheels"
Could someone explain the wheel method? I'm assuming it's where you build websites that link to each other in a node system which loops in a full circle. Site A -> Site B -> Site C -> Site A. Is that what you mean by wheel method?
Anything link/wheeling or any other "strategy" will never work long term. You have to be natural and really provide what people want instead of finding ways to get around the algos, work with them.
Linkwheels get a bad rap, I think many times by people whom don't understand how to use them effectively. Basically you are trying to create Web 2.0 properties that will carry some significant PR themselves and possibly rank for your smaller key words on their own. Sites such as Hubpages really only want 1 link to a domain so you can link to your main site, your blog and one of your Squidoo Lense's without much problem. The idea is to create authority pages that you own yourself.
Well it is partial success and risk involved so lesser beneficial. A three way link building is more effective as per my exp.
i found link wheel the most effective but the most risky for bringing the pr juice for your site....make sure you choose the best pr sites for your link wheel ...if one link fails then the whole wheel would collapse.. if successfully implemented the link wheel bring you the pr juice for your site .....
Link Wheel is good method of improving ranking in search engines but you have to become good writer. If your post attract more people then you will get more profit and suggest other links to click to readers for more information.
Thanks for the replays. I think it can work, despite their bad rap and I think I am willing to give it a try.
This is an image of our latest linkwheel strategy. I hope it helps everyone out there who is asking "what is a link wheel strategy?" Regards, David Pagotto
