(loosely related to the thread link dev in myspace?). I've recently joined with Squidoo and created a "lens" called "Computers and Games", primarily so that I can get backlinks. I've set up the lens to display 3 RSS feeds from my main site, so that every article gets a direct link. There are many other things you could probably do with this, including earning money. Read their FAQ to learn all about it. I have a question: Would I be better off creating 3 seperate lens, one for each RSS feed? I'm wondering if having 3 related lens would have a greater effect on backlinks and PageRank (of my main site), and on the Lensrank (of each lens). Also, are there any other good things you can do with Squidoo to promote ones own websites? And how else can I improve my Lensrank? Cheers, Cryo. PS: They have a very nice referral system - so if you want to sign up, do it via somebody's lens.
I use them as well and it comes down to the spamming. Now before I try to sound holier then now.. I have multiple lens with them in many different niches. I get the occassional flack for this because in essense I am spamming thier system but I do not post everyday... I have a guy from elance randomize who he posts to and then use rssfeedsubmit to ping the rss feeds. It seems to work pretty good and I use a list of 31 social bookmark sites. ... not sure if I actually answered your question here?
I think you did answer his question: a) it works b) multiple lenses sounds like it'd be adviseable c) posting everday and pinging the heck out of it = spamming While I haven't had to go to Squidoo yet for links, I am going to give it a try... Best; Eric
It's still coming only from ONE site, so you're only geting one link from 1 ip. If it's a traffic thing, that's different, but for linking purposes, it's 1 link.
I just looked up the SEOmoz Page Strength of my Computers and Games lens - it gets a 4/10! The actual page is very new and doesn't have many backlinks, but the domain as a whole as very many backlinks and a healthy PR of 5. I think I will have to create some more lens when I get back from my holiday... Oh, and I disagree with Voasi - backlinks from multiple pages on a domain will be more beneficial from only a one page. This is why sitewide links are more valuable. The benefit is even greater if those pages are directly relevant. Cryo. PS: PM me this week if you want a referral bonus when you sign up to Squidoo...
OK, here is my tip of the day..... Create a squidoo lens (or a similar page at somewhere like newsvine) and then point your signature links/link vault links/coop links at it. Write an article, submit the article to loads of sites with links to your squidoo and newsvine pages. The trust and age of the squidoo site combined with the external links to your particular page means it gets loads of traffic and rankings.
Squidoo isn't that bad, it's pretty easy to add articles to it and only takes a few minutes, I did it in front of the TV today: http://www.squidoo.com/myspacegames/ I wonder how many hits I'll get from it?
You are absolutely right but remember internal links are useful too, that is why setting up your internal linking structure is important. Just because a link is from one ip does not mean it does not help. I 100% agree that the more variety of ip's you can have the better but i would rather have 5 links from one ip then one link... in my opinion anyway.
People here say traffic is sent regularly from Squidoo, so I guess so. About SEO, look at how many pages have been indexed in Squidoo by the Search Engines and see for yourself
