Using SEO person. How to measure progress?

    Hi. I have started to work with a SEO helper on my site. she has done some work on this and I'm happy with her.

    I was just after some help on how to measure the progress of the changes made.

    Also. what kind of thing should I expect from an SEO help ongoing to develop my site

    My site sells physical products if that makes a difference

    you can setup goal in analytic for getting better observation in project.

    Pretty easy - get yourself a good stats agent like awstats. In our experience in 12 years running 8 websites, we noticed that Seos will tell you what they will do eg:

    1. Submit you to 300 directories
    2. Post you on Twitter
    3. Post you to 500 blogs

    but never tell you exactly which ones you will be on. So to find this out you'll need to do detective work by scanning the search engines and doing searches in each directory, blog etc to see if your listed.

    Personally, 90% of Seo is a scam, black hat and worthless. In some minute corner of the galaxy, you may find the Seo Guru called 'Golden linker' for he is all powerful and might - but he is unattainable as his monthly commitments are huge, and he makes so much money, he chooses his victims carefully. There have been reports of sightings of this mystical being, so mystical he is actually invisible and cant be found.

    Even easier... You should ask her if she has her own site or blog on the first page of Google for SEO related keywords. If not... you're dealing with a wrong person.

    Theres nothing easier than incorporating Awstats - then just check the link referrals section to see if your SEO links sent you visitors. If you see new links and zero traffic, then the Seo agent has failed.

    Most SEO agents will fail badly - you need to know this. I doubt any Seo agent will have paid the publisher/owners for the links they just got you and such you will be deleted from such sites by the publishers, wasting your cash.
