    Hello,

I was wondering if it is permitted to use images from Amazon website on my site. Those images are starting point that redirect to Amazon shop.

    Thanks.

You can use the images Amazon supplies to affiliates to sell products (the ones you get by creating widgets or image links), but as Dave Zan points out, you can't just pick any images from Amazon.com. It's not just an issue of copyright, it's an issue of Amazon.com's trademark.

I say this as the author of a bunch of books that amazon sells and with covers that amazon copies for its pages....

I can't believe that amazon has a leg to stand on if you copy a book cover image they've got stored at their site. That image almost surely comes from the publisher... They don't own it.

For what it's worth, I show pictures of a couple of "... For Dummies" I've written on every page of every web site I do.

I can't remember where I copied the images from. Maybe amazon.com? I don't care. My publisher is just happy that I promote the book to X thousand people in my audience every month...

Probably not the best of ideas in my opinion.

I think it is actually permitted. Amazon states in the product link widget:
So, that means it is OK?

Yes, that's OK, as long as you are using the image they are giving you for that purpose. That doesn't mean you can use just any image off of Amazon.com.
