    Hi

I have a question regarding press releases, I do quite a lot for various clienst mainly using prweb, but what I wanted to know is: will there be additional benefit by submitting to multiple pr syndication companies or is this just duplicating content and re-submitting to the same places. Bear in mind the costs are quite high to submit to additional pr syndication agencies.

I mainly use the full media package at prweb which is $360
I was think about also using livewire whcih is about $60

I was wondering if ther extra expenditure would be worth it ?

    Regards Marx

I think you should check the effectiveness of your news by posting in free PR release sites before going for paid subscription. There are many free PR sites which could worth to use.

It is always best to submit to PR companies, as many as possible. That will help in terms of SEO as well. I think, most of these companies allow you to submit press releases free. Though their paid plans take some more advantage. Here is a list of press release sites that really matter, I compiled.

Many of these sites take releases for free. I think you may hire someone and get him to submit to free directories, a lot. SEO benefit from that is quite much.

Actually, it's not always best to submit to as many PR sites as possible (and that's coming from a real and experienced online PR specialist who's done much more than just press releases).

In fact, doing so can be a bad idea. Why?

    1. To legitimate outlets that may choose to pick you up, it looks like very obvious link spam (that potentially hurts your reputation - which is what PR is all about).

    2. The added ROI beyond the first 1 - 3 sites doesn't justify the time it takes to post them (or money to have someone else post them). At best you'll just get more garbage links.

    3. Garbage links aren't good for your site. Again, reputation problem if someone checks out your site or company and the bulk of your links are coming from irrelevant cheap or free PR sites or scraper sites / spam blogs picking up the feeds.

Always shoot for real coverage and target your distribution to the influencers of the end audience you hope to reach (not to them directly, as the vast majority don't give a rat's ass that your press release is in Yahoo news or Google news - the truth is that the bulk of your end readers don't trust news spun directly from you, but they do still trust that news if it's picked up by influential outlets, journalists, bloggers, etc. in the niche that they follow).

If you decide that you want to go the free route, start with this article / guide I've made available for webmasters, small business owners, and online entrepreneurs just like you (or your clients) over at NakedPR.com - Effective Free Press Release Distribution in 5 Easy Steps
