Can someone shed a light if a blogger can use news articles from online websites or photos on the Internt of general interest on the website or blog with infringing any copywrites ? Can you use bits and pieces or whole articles as your content ? How about photos of general news interest etc//
If the material is copyrighted you obviously are going to infring some laws. If you use articles from article directories, normally you can replicate them, (whole or partial) as long as you include the author box.
IMO flickr is the best source for searching free and good quality pictures for your blog. I have written a complete tutorial about searching copyright free images on flickr. http://www.meetarpit.com/understanding-copyright-on-flickr/ I hope this will help you.
You can quote portions of articles from other sources on your blog, but you will need to specifically identify your source and add a link to the original article. As for photos I agree that flickr is an excellent place to find good photos. Just remember to do an advanced search. You can do an advanced search by going here: http://www.flickr.com/search/advanced/ At the bottom of the page the select "Only search within Creative Commons-licensed content " and select "Find content to use commercially". The pictures that show up with this search criteria can be used for your blogs. I use them for my blogs and hubpages. Stock.xchng is a free stock exchange site and you can grab photos from there to use on your blogs.
Yeah it legal to use the article or photo but in one condition. You must give credit to the owner of the article and photo by mention their name or link to their website
i find it pretty amusing that most people fill their BLOGS with these content. I'm into reading articles not viewing crappy photos that often are plagiarized from other sites.
Duratec, That maybe your preference, but it is known that many people find a nice picture breaks up the content and makes it more appealing and in some cases easier to read. There are some people who will plagiarize content, but most bloggers who make their living part-time or full-time from blogging will either purchase the photo or grab on with Creative Commons license and give credit to the photographer.
No. You will have to find "FREE Stock Photos" that have a "Creative Commons" license or similar license that allow you to use the photo. Most photographers that adhere to the creative commons license only want named credit and a link to their website or stock photo gallery. You cannot use a photo from Reuters and simply give them credit on your blog. You will have to contact them and ask for permission to use the photo.
