Using paypal

I just ordered a shipment of 100 laptops but I have not paid yet as the seller is asking for a paypal payment instead of the usual credit card. I am wondering if paypal will charge me too much for their service fee and other fees. I also do not think paypal will let me send that much money at once. I am speaking of around 100k here. But I know the seller is not a fraud as we are using paypal and he is very reputable online.

    Thank you for your opinions

I am not sure about big amounts but I always had the impression that Paypal is for small dollar amounts and not hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Paypal would not charge the payer so you be assured that you would not be billed more than what you are supposed to pay, the merchant would have to pay for the bills.

I supposed that because it is a big amount, the seller is trying to retain as much money as possible since Paypal offers amongst the lowest fees there is to collecting money online. A Pure Credit Card processor would indeed charge a lot more.

However since you are the buyer, you are at the advantage because if the merchant does not deliver, you can raise a dispute or issue a chargeback and the merchant would be in ruins.

I'm using PayPal for both paying and receiving money and I'm satisfied with their service which I find easy and secure (such big amounts as $100 000 I have no experience with).

As the buyer (and payer) you will not have to pay any transaction fee to PayPal at all. It's the seller (receiver of money) who pay the fees.

I use PayPal on my sites. It's easy to use and safe, in my opinion.

Maximum sending amount allowed per transaction is US$ 10000 for Paypal members and US$4000 for non Paypal members. I dont suppose there is a limit to the number of transactions as they may just be considered as different purchases.

I think if the monthly income of the seller exceeds 100000 then the transaction fee is 1.9% + $0.30 USD (2.2% + $0.30 USD if more than 10000 and less than 100000)

The seller normally includes the transaction fee in the price quoted.

Thank you for this information. I knew that I could not send that much at once. Also we have agreed to use credit card.
