I have to ask the quetion I ve been online for years know I recently saw a link of my competitor web site listed at a top directory" I called him and he + said yep they work"

well thats his input alright" I can see that people use them and some choose the free listings but if the directory is steadily indexing especially with all the daily inclusions it gets pounded with" then how could the free directory list even be found" I mean really everyone" the free stuff is their for you to submit too but as I said the paid directories place you on the top of its listing" and it seems like you could get more quality traffic into your site" do you think if you were posted on the very top of a directories results" you would be guaranteed more traffic?

 

I don't think any directory is good for a direct traffic.
Concentrate on SEO for some serious traffic.

Social bookmarking sites will drive good traffic to your site as well depending on your niche.
