Hi Just wonering if anyone here uses other peoples articles such as ezine(where permission is given for a link back) Will this help your site from a search engine point of view as you are generating new content for your site and articles but you are also giving out links? Any thoughts
It is best to generate new content. Read up on a few articles that you're interested in for your site, learn it and make your own opinion. Post that to your website and the search engine's will eat it up. Fresh content is king.
Duplicate content, used correctly it can be 'ok' but not anywhere near as good as unique content IMO.
If you use that content you will be competing against a lot of other article directories with the same article for rankings; and some article site are pretty trusted with G. You are better off writing unique content
If you are targeting a niche, you can often do a better job of optimising the duplicate articles that the original repository. If you can outrank the competition, then you can bring in some good traffic. Unique content is only truly unique if there is no one else writing about the same thing. An article about the benefits of Firefox is going to be very hard to rank well, no matter how unique it is. Cryo.
Read it. Digest it. Write it. And publish it. Keep doing the above thing till you get tired, insane, or old. It will definately help you.
You're suggesting to rewrite the original article, this would be against the terms and or illegal in most cases would it not? Most people who allow you to use their articles for free and give them credit for it do not want you rewriting it from what I know. Other content can be rewritten, articles however such as this I do not believe is the case. As far as 'unique' content. Of course subjects coiuld be considered duplicate, however word for word being the same is a bit different than being the same topic covered on 2 pages
I see it as a competition. If you have the same content as this other website (and I'm talking on a page by page basis) then how can you beat them? You may beat them by (a) having a more authoritative site, or (b) optimizing the page better as someone suggested above. If neither of these applies, why bother? You'll just be adding to the internet clutter and won't gain any benefit from it.
I use good articles occasionally from ezine in my site to improve my content quality but never as a SEO technique.. In terms of SEO, it is always better to create unique content
