I am currently using a version of Dreamweaver that I purchased about 7 tears ago. For me its great, i am used to working with it, but I wonder is there any good reason to upgrade to the latest version? Has it changed much? Will the benefits justify the cost?
there are nice features in every new version of software, but if you're a hardcore do-it-by-hand kinda guy like me, you don't need dreamweaver at all to make websites anyway. Dreamweaver CS4 is a nice piece of software, but I think a massive upgrade, for less money that would still have a lot of the same features might be Eclipse or Aptana Studio. check those out, they're both free and multi-platform so you've got nothing to lose. Hope this helps!
You will create wonders on the new Dreamweaver CS4 . I think you are using the old macromedia version . After adobes' purchase of Macromedia , Dreamweaver is an excellent software with compatibility for photoshop and fireworks .Programming and designing tools have be improved also with support for AJAX .
yes, Dreamweaver does have support for Adobe's Spry toolkit, but so does Aptana and some of the other tools.... Interactivity with other software instead of simply just the images or files created with them is only a benefit if you are already currently using those programs. if you don't use photoshop dreamweaver's interactivity with photoshop offers no advantge
i'm using MX (version 6.0)... was thisnking about upgrading yestaerday, weird... is it worth the upgrade though? what major useful features have been added?
I wouldn't upgrade, especially if you don't have a very fast computer. The new one is heavy and slow.
It is depend on your use. As long the old version can be use without any problem and can get your jobs done, I don't see any reason for you to upgrade.
I'm using DW8 (apx 2005 I think?), and wouldn't dream of updating it. The only real reason I use it is for the coloured syntax and the crappy FTP feature.
are we forgetting that web standards evolve? If you want to be creating current websites you need to be using current standards. I highly recommend the new one, noboy can say it's a bad product, you just debate whether it's necessary or not. If you purchase it you will not be dissapointed, but I think you ought to try Eclispe or Aptana Studio for the same features and no cost.
I would suggest that you upgrade. I am using Adobe Dreameweaver CS3 and everything is great, it is still as fast as ever, and has support for XHTML, which is the new scheme that all the new websites should be using these days. Regards, ~ Mike
Hi, I agree to ms2134 words, what he is saying is correct. And if you want latest version software then simply PM me, dont worry it is completely free of charge.
I just got CS4 last weekend and I love it, I have only played around a little bit, my aunt bought it for me for christmas (which surprised the hell out of me since I'm 22 and she bought me photoshop, flash, fireworks, and dreamweaver) I have never had dreamweaver before, but I agree, you could try the 30 day trial, see if its worth the money to upgrade. Although, innovati has a point, web standards do evolve. Although, supposedly, this new version is supposed to have a lot less code produced than the last version, don't know if its true or not, as I never have used the earlier versions.
I have Dream weaver circa 1998 and it still does a fine job upgrading my website. I am sure a new version will do a lot. Its like buying a new car that now runs and looks better.
web standards that are included in dreamweaver from a decade ago are ancient old standards now and shouldn't be used. You need to upgrade to something that writes current standards, dreamweaver or not. I recommend Kompozer, Dreamweaver, Aptana or Eclipse.
