    I want to use a few movie stills from a movie im writing about. IS this a violation of Copyright? When is it or is it not a violation of copyright to use movie stills?

    But, seriously. Many many thousands upon thousands of websites include screencaps, stills, & photos.

    Using a few stills in a review of a movie may be considered "fair use". Most times it is 100% legal. Sometimes there are exclusions contained in a particular copyright notice but most times it is okay.

    Use your common sense here. If your real intent is to review the movie you should be fine. If you are trying to cheat and circumvent the "fair use guidlelines", you may get busted.
