Using more obscure domains.

    Hi all,

In terms of getting a good ranking in google and other search engines is there any disadvantage in using ".org.uk" or "uk.net" instead of the more common "co.uk" and ".com"?

Or doesn't it make any difference?

    Thanks.

No TLD (Top-Level Domain) get any more special weight in search results than another. However, ccTLD (Country Code Top-Level Domain) tend to rank better in their respected data center and proper search portal. *.uk domains would naturally rank better on google.co.uk than google.com, but can still equally rank in results on google.com
