Hey guys, anybody tried to see the traffic of a site without meta tags and with meta tags for a week?

I want to know how much it helps, i added them today for most of the site and it seems to work - but ill publish the results only next week.

A unique meta description tag on each page is great for search engine results. You should write an accurate description with your targetted keyword appearing at the start and elsewhere too. Personally, I would say a uniqie description tag is a must have for SEO, especially if you have pages with similar or limited content.

They kewords tag is less important but wont do any harm, as long as you use it honestly. I little birdy told me that adsense uses the keywords to target ads.

    Hope this helps.

It is quite easy to show that mediabot ignores the keywords meta so you can safely fatten up your 'little birdy' ready for Xmas :)

I agree with mistermix - I've seen meta tags used by mediabot, especially when there's very little content.

Other search engines make use of the meta keywords too, but only if they also appear in the content. If your keywords are spammy, then you may trip the search engine's spam filter (not good).

Meta tags are somehow important, a unique meta description may give you better results.

Yes it's best to use both meta keyword & description tag but make sure you mention your main keywords in the description too (not spamming mentioning);)
