For those of you who are familiar with writing for SEO, it will come as no surprise that certain text phrases will optimize better than others. For example, if you use the phrase "I will teach you how to make a website that attracts thousands of visitors each day" and the phrase "I will teach you web marketing," the second one will rank for you real keyword term, "web marketing." But using optimized text can also help in other areas of internet marketing besides SEO - it can help build your follower count on Twitter. Now that Twitter has a fully functional search page, and hashtags are more popular than ever, you can utilize key search terms to gain followers in your niche. If you do write SEO optimized text, first start by thinking of what keywords are most important. If you do not know much about what keywords are most important for your niche, visit Google's keyword search tool here: https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal and enter in some of the subjects related to your niche. The results will show you which keywords are most popular. Next, start planning some Twitter tweets that use the keywords you've already found to be popular. You may also want to explore popular hashtags used on Twitter to see what groups and topics already have a lot of traction on Twitter. As you use the keywords, you will find your follower count increasing as you attract people doing searches for that keyword on Twitter search. It's not enough just to have interesting tweets, you need to have some way for people to find you in the first place. Using popular keywords that other people will search for is a great way to attract interest in your Twitter line.
This is a great lil trick I use as well to get more followers. Tweet the most popular terms/tags @ the moment and you'll see a slow but steady rise in your followers.
