hi gays I have many images ( the images link to product pages ) but still here is no alt tag. I have an extra two pages ( customer testimonials and feed backs ) where i have used many keywords....those pages are full with my keywords, if i remove some of keywords with those pages and use these keywords in "alt tag of the images" WOULD IT BE WORTH OR NOT ? Thanks
if you have images then it good to use alt for them.. I mean there should be descriptive alt tag for each of your image which can be the keyphrases your are trying to target on that page. And just having keywords at one place won't help u much so scatter them in different pages. Organize your information and then attach the keywords that best describes tht image.
umm OK let me know ...........I have used all my keywords in just two pages ( customer testimonials and feedbacks ). All the others are products pages and every page having four something images, would it be better if i convert the keywords from these pages ( customer testimonials and feedbacks ) to the product pages ( use in images alt tag) and contribute all the keywords in the whole pages ? thanks
yes u right alt is an attribute attached to img tag. jamie.. the product pages can have alts in the image depending on the keywords you plan to target for that page. I am sure if u have a page on mobile phones then there will be mobile or related images not tajmahal.. so i get confused when u talk abt other pages here. just remember to attach relevant keywords with ur alt in image tags.. that's all i can suggest thank you
also be careful with the keywords you pick or you could find a lot of traffic for those images which will bring you nothing but cost you more in bw
Use your targeted keywords on your alt tags. If you have text content, your contents must not look keywords spamming.
It is not pagerank at all. A good website design should include alt tags so if you have the opportunity to use them wisely adding keywords, go ahead without fear
Most of the time the images loads slower than it should be so having alt tags for images will give a brief description of that image.
Google only read alt text of images which are clickable, therefore adding alt text to non-clickable images is a useless exercise.
Can someone source the above comment about SE's only crawling the alt attribute on clickable images? I haven't heard anything about this before and am not finding anything authoritative in my search.
We all are not gays here. alt tags are very important part of a website. search engines are blind to images/animations flash files (.swf). Always remember to put a alt tag which makes sense to a each and every image you have on your website. alt tag contributes in seo. Lacking good alt tags will decrease your seo.
Hello tarun, How can u say "Google reads alt text on Clickable images" can u pls give us some example. Alt text is important, u can use your key words there but donot use only key words & keywords so that it seems to be spammy. As per my knowledge uses of keywords in ur main text is a good habbit. Thanks Day Kevi
For Header Image: Use the most effective keyword likely the one used in tag <title> + word 'header'. For Content Images: Use Other keywords, should be different for each 'alt' + an extra word 'image' or 'graphic' to ensures that google won't view this as Spam. Other Content Images: What if content have other images like: pathway arrows, bullets, menu images, etc. Should each and every image in a content assigned keyword in 'alt' attribute?. Of course not, you can use alt with every image but don't use your keywords in every 'alt', caz again this may trouble your site repute.
I don't think this is true. Who is your source? My understanding is that alt tags have nothing to do with whether an image is a hyperlink, but rather whether a browser can load the image.
Yea no doubt that the anchor text has the more value, but it is a good habbit to put ur key words in the "alt" tag.
Well, what I mean is that google only takes into account the alt text of images for ranking in SERPS only if that very image is clickable. If the image is not clickable and it has alt text, google does not gives any sort of weightage to those keywords while calculating ranking in SERPs. I am surprised, so many people dont know this thing, it has been known since about 2-3 years.
