Currently I am using an adwords ad identifier in my ad's destination url e.g. www.mysite.com/index.php?adnum=23 This can be added to e-commerce info (say worldpay) and put on a database to allow me to test the cost-effectiveness of each ad. Does anyone know how to pass any of google's other info by the ad's destination url (such as which keyword was used in google, it's CPC ... anything at all)? I know about the keyword's destination url and that does not help here. Thanks in advance. docbnz
So you don't want to do, www.mysite.com/index.php?adnum=23&src=google&ky=keyword? We use the above and also capture the referrer which normally contains the search query, which could be the keyword/s if your using phrase or exact match.
Thanks linkhappy - I can use the keyword in the url if I only have 1 keyword/phrase for each ad. I can't use 'keyword' to enter the keyword from my adgroup which was used to get this ad. I know some other S.E.'s allow you to use ky={keyword} but not google adwords. I also know that I can get the referrer and take the keyword/phrase from that. I hadn't thought about exact phrase though and that would help if I am using that form of matching. It would be so much easier if adwords would use a parameter for the keyword (as it is in the ad group), to be used for tracking in the url. Thanks for your suggestions - you seem to be working along the same lines as me. Cheers docbnz
If I am reading you right then the only other way is to separate each keyword into its only Ad Group. 'I know some other S.E.'s allow you to use ky={keyword} but not google' Why won't Google let you do this? We use it in our Ad Groups but I must admit not at Keyword level, I must try!
