I plan to build a site for musicians using Joomla and would like to allow anyone to write reviews on musical gear within my site. Like at harmony-central. <---Example

How can I do it like that :)

There are some joomla extension that you can use for adding comments to your site. Do a search for joomla extension and you might find an extension for adding comment. I used to have one on one of my sites but don't remember what it was called

No. I know many comments extensions.

What I'm looking for is a way to turn a section into a reviews section so anyone can write a review on a specific guitar or something like that and it will automatically post. jreviews isn't free. I tried the trial version and boy is it complicated!

Despite the fact folks will argue with me, joomla is junk. You should check out http://www.jamroom.net/
I have played around with it, its quite nice.

um, does it have the feature I'm looking for? I won't switch my cms just for something else that I am not familiar with and still doesn't have the feature I want.

oops, I am sorry. I misread the post. jamroom is sweet but geared towards actual musicians not equipment.
I think you want something like this http://www.reviewsforjoomla.com/ :)

    hope that helps

Thank Nigel. Yeah jreviews looks like what I want but wow I could not configure or figure out how to use it. I seemed like too much trouble. Perhaps I didn't spend enough time with it.

Simple review is only a component for you to write reviews in the admin panel alone, won't allow just anyone. I'll try some other ones on the extensions page

Hi, I tried to poke around the config in the admin demo on that site but it seems to be broken. I am sure its not too bad though. It actually looks pretty polished for joomla component.

Is musiciansplaza yours? It looks nice.

As for reviews, the one nigel posted are the best, unless you want to custom make something. I'm poking around with a review add-on for my music gear sites as well.

Yes MrSandMan. I'm just getting it up and running now. I decided to just keep it as a forum. So I'm no longer trying to do the review script thing :]
