    Hi Guys,

I would like to know how to get an RSS feed from another site to be displayed in one of the boxes on my front page of joomla 1.5 for a site i am designing?

Also is it possible to make it so this RSS feed could be from an RSS feed from google news, that is limited to the kind of news I want to come through. I mean have the google news RSS feed for example limited to only news stories about "ice cream" or something.

You can get a wide variety of RSS Readers free from the JED

Some are components which will go on the frontpage no problem, others are modules which you can embed on your frontpage using the {loadposition}custom1{/loadposition} method.

    Cheers,

    jason.

Start a new module with an RSS feed and assign it to the front ( home ) page.

To do this follow these instructions :

In the admin backend go to Extensions > Module Manager > New (the green + icon) > feed display >

Install the feed url into the new feed display module and choose your parameters.

Assign it to the front page using the menu assignment on the left.

    Good luck.

Okay, you need to choose where it goes also.

Login at the administrator backend, go to: Extensions > Template Manager

and choose the template you are currently using. It should have a yellow star under the "default" column.

Click on the template name on the left. You will go to the "template edit" page. Click on "preview". You will
be taken to the template manager page. Click on "open in new window". When it opens the new window, go back to
the original window and click on the green arrow button that says "back" under it. On the resulting page, click on the red "X"
icon and you will be back at the first "template manager" page.

From this page go to the top menu, choose Extensions > Module Manager >

and choose the RSS feed from the list. It will be under "mod_feed" in the "type" column. Click on the name you gave
to the RSS feed. From this page ( Module Edit ), in the details box on the left, choose the position for the
RSS feed from the position drop-down menu.

The other page you opened earlier ( in Template Manager ) will demonstrate to you where the modules are. The names
of the modules are in the position drop-down menu inside the "details" box on the "Module Edit" page.

Choose one for the RSS feed.

Click on "save" and you are done.

you can use RSS factory to import RSS feeds into Joomla content, or even the whole source article (the long version, not the RSS short version)

You can easily center it if you get a plugin like Modules Anywhere. You create the feed like above, then simply put {module ##} on your Home-Page, Center-it and you're done.

Search for it in the extensions, its worth it. So much easier to position things with something like that.

I think what you need is a Joomla RSS Syndicate component, let's check it out: http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/content-sharing/rss-syndicate
