Using Images

    Hello everyone,

Does anyone know how the rules stand on using imagery of products on your website from advertiser's websites for the sole benefit (no other use) of promoting their product?

This particular product is not something you could readily, otherwise, obtain a picture of. I asked them but got no reply in the past week.

What would you guys suggest? It seems like it would be "ok"-ish because it's for the advertiser's benefit.

That's a good question. NOT to change the topic here but...This crap with advertisers NOT responding to questions or e-mails really sucks. I sent mails to e bay with cj and the affiliate area and still no reply.

Recently I got a reply from an advertiser....From 6 months ago. My reply to him was...Are you kidding me?

anyway...about your question. You can also get permission to buy from them with one of your cj links and order one of them items and take your own pictures of it? JMO

Usually you can use the images without having to get prior permission from the advertisers. In fact, most advertisers offer these images through their datafeeds and/or Product catalog links.

You'd be surprised as to how many affiliate programs are poorly managed - both with in-house and outsourced management. There are, however, a significant number of good affiliate programs whose managers respond to emails on the same day (or within a day or two).

I would think it would depend on the merchant. I would think most would be ok with it, since all CJ advertisers are pay-per-lead, pay-per-sale, or pay-per-action and it can only benefit them to have traffic driven to their site.
