    Hello,
There are many tools for tracking your traffic, but Google analytics is one of the best. My opinion ...

Its one of the best and its free so why wouldnt you use it? Even if you favour another tracking method you could use analytics also

Google analytics is free and provides all functionality you need for website tracking. Data inside analytics is as secure as your gmail (since it is the same account). The only insecurity you will add is the ability to reverse lookup your sites based on analytics id. Though such disadvantage exists in most of the tracking systems today and there are ways to address it too.

Analytics is a great tool - provided you are not into affiliate marketing, or even just using Adsense
Google do use the information from your site analytics - and this may well damaging your site ranking.
Try free open source tracking such as Piwik

I'm going a little out of the accepted norm it may appear by saying that I prefer a healthy combination of server side and GA together. GA does not report with visitors having java disabled or even if they've outright blocked GA completely.

Aside from what the others have already said, Google Analytics is a good, if not the best analytical tool you can get for free. Not only does it help you keep track of your visitors but it also helps you understand how your website performs not only in the Search Engines but in the web itself.

One of the best thing that you should need to learn when using analytics is understand how the metrics work. (Visits via non-paid, organic or direct, average time on the website, bounce rate and percent of new visits.) Understanding how these metrics work is almost the same as transparently looking at how your website make those conversions.

It's well rated and it's free. Those are good enough reasons for using it.

I have used several tools for traffic statistics and find Google's to be one of the best. Plus, it's free. We have found the goals feature to be very worthwhile.
