We know that everyone is using generic keywords to diversity their link profiles, however, they are using the exact keywords that everyone else uses. ie: "Click Here" So the question is, would it not over all be better if you added your brand after the the generic keyword? ie: "Click Here (mybrand)" Would this not hold better value in link diversity then just using "Click Here"? Thanks
I think that there is nothing wrong with generic keywords then brand name. Also we better look these factors: does your brand have searches too? Does your brand has good social media signal? If yes, then this is very beneficial to have generic+brand keywords. What I suggest first: Research your keywords and group them according to whether they are generic, branded or long-tail. Identification of the keywords is actually just the first step. The real impact starts when you start creating content (blog posts, web pages, videos, white papers, webinars and more) for each of these keywords
Does anyone really search for "click here"? Your anchor/link profile should be diverse, so I was thinking, it is not very diverse if I am using the same generics as everyone else, but I do understand your point...no one really has a brand until they get out there, so obviously no one is going to search "click here mybrand" because no one in their right mind would do that anyways. I was primarily of thinking about the "anchor" text not being the same as millions of other anchor texts.... In fact, I cant say that I have ever searched for "click here" at all, as it provides no value to do so... however, if it is best to stay with generics then ok... It would be no different if I used my own brand as the keyword, since no one knows me and they wont until they click on the link that brings them to me...
What I meant with generic is something like "Internet marketing", "weight loss". "Click here" is no value at all..as what I understand, it is very very broad. It is somewhat a generic keyword. But I prefer to use the generic words that make sense like "internet marketing" or "weight loss"..something like that...
I think google just wants you to be different... rather then "internet marketing" or "Weight loss" something like: Try Dan's Internet Marketing Plan or Try Jan's Weight Loss for fat people... This is not so much about ranking by term, because if the page your link is on gets a boost, then your site goes up also in the serps... however, if your link gets clicks, then that is a plus too.. If I wanted to rank by term, then I would use LSI keywords, however, I am trying to be different and use diverse keywords... I dunno, i am not an seo expert...
There is nothing wrong use anchor text with your brand name. If your brand goes exact keyword may have chance to consider as spam. Anyway if your using keyword with your brand name it is also good practice for link diversity.
very interesting question you ask. but google more cleaver they not rank this type of keyword may be.
Yes google is very smart. As for the algorithm, google updated their algorithm last Jan 8,2016 - it is called "core algo update"
