Hey I saw that you can make money by creating a forum, but how do you make money? And what should I make the forum on? Thanks nut legned
forums need users. Why not go down to your local paper shop and see what magazines are populer * ones that have decent adverts of reputable companies is a good sign* then maybe create a forum on that ''niche'' Forums do need alot of work in the beginning and can seem slow at first, but once things start to pick up they grow by word of mouth =-) good luck
i am running a forum now, its really hard.. but i am sure my efforts will be paid off in 2 years time.

for me, my forum is a local community in my country. That might be one mistake i make.. cos people say its too general.. should go into specific niche.
Forums are a slightly harder way to make money since, although they have content (if they are popular) the readership tends to be repeat visitors and they also tend to be there specifically for the ongoing conversations and not to look for a product or service (which is the type of visitor you dont want if you are hoping for clicks on adverts). As such, forums tend to have ridiculously low CTR (click through rates).

Even with the low CTR you can work with a nice CPM network or something and still make some money that way. To me, forums have always been a secondary thing, where I have a main site and then some discussion forums.
Yes you need to spend time checking what your user are talking about and pushing products/services related, in my experience the time:money ratio for forums is one of the worst.
Get lots of readers and put adsense on your site, just dont pay too much to advertise it. Good luck. -Patz
