Hey, I was wandering if anyone here has much experience with mixing flickr in with their site. I'm thinking about buying a pro account their primarily to host graphics that will use alot of bandwidth and strain my server. The flickr pro account says that it allows unlimited bandwidth and storage. Is this really the case. Could you go overboard and run into trouble if an image is using too much bandwidth? Thanks for the Info.
I wouldn't do this - always host everything on your site for optimization purposes...also, I would never rely on a 3rd party to host my content - no matter who that 3rd party is.
Agree with Markn26. I use to use 3rd party host but you run into these problems : 1. Load time 2. File size and type (often restricted) 3. They go down 4. Your account is closed 5. You forget the password 6. Sudden change in policy 7. Other people use your images It's a whole lot better to host the images yourself. ps. There is NO SUCH THING AS `UNLIMITED BANDWIDTH` , EVER !
this is flickr though, not just any image hoster, with a pro account ($24 per year) with unlimited bandwidth. Not wanting to use them for all my images just some downloadable graphics mainly that will use lots of bandwidth and also be able to be linked to from profile type sites like myspace. --and i know there is no such thing as unlimited bandwidth in hosting but flickr is more like youtube where lots of single images use tons of bandwidth.
