    Hi,
Just working on my first site, I'm using DreamWeaver cs3 or something like that, Is this a recommended program to start on? Finding it quite hard to use, Is it more for profesionals or am i just rubbish at it?

My first web-design was using dreamweaver way-back in high school and i wasn't able to learn to edit the codes presented in dreamweaver. I think it would be better to use HTML, Javascript and CSS in a text-editor.

It's a very good program to use. I'd recommend it, as when you get more skilled you find it invaluable. It may seem daunting at first, but when you become more seasoned, it becomes like second nature. Give it a chance, check out some tutorials, and good luck with it

Yeah i am finding out something new on it every day, I'm sure i'll be a wizz at it no time hehe.
The one thing annoying my is, its hard to change the font colour of links, it keeps changing the colour of all the links as a group and stuff.
Maybe i should start using the actual code to write it and pick the font colour rather than using the design area.
    Anyway, thanks for the help.

Use Dreamweaver but don't use the WYSIWYG editor - it applies all sorts of unnecessary code into your HTML.

This guy is a genius. Do what he said. Code your sites on Notepad (or something similar). Dreaweaver should be used by experienced coders only. People will little coding knowledge will find it hard to use and think that it sucks.

    Yeah thanks,
I dont really know the first thing about coding, Was kinda hoping i could just drag on drop an insert images and things and it all just converts it to code.
Which it does to some extend but i guess i'll just have to learn the code if i was to become really good at it.
Maybe a short web design course. :)

    Thanks again

I like Dreamweaver. I don't have that much knowledge coding, etc. I have pretty basic html knowledge. You can teach yourself and find hundreds of tutorials online. It's not that difficult. Just use basic templates and tweak them until you get the product you desire.

Or you can just say screw it and outsource your projects....then again, you said you wanted to learn. Trial and error my friend. Go start making mistakes. :D

Yeah i might try frontpage, think it sounds a bit easier.
I might outsource my project if i hit i brick wall, i think theres only so much i could learn about it.
If i want my site to look proffesional then i might just get the experts to do it.
But im enjoying having a play about with it anyway.
Just got to learn all about SEO now.

Mmm many people I know hate Frontpage. If I were you I'd stay away from it and learn how to code in HTML from scratch using Notepad. It'll help you learn what HTML is and how it works better than if you coded your sites using DW, Frontpage or any similar tool.

Yeah i'll give it a bash, I just feel like ive spent so much time making my current page with DW, It would be like starting from square one again trying something new.
But i suppose if i want to advance then learning HTML code is the only way forward.

I actually really like Dreamweaver, but I wouldn't recommend it if you are starting out. It can be quite a complicated thing to use if you don't know what you are doing.

I have just designed my 1st site in dreamweaver. I feel boring learning coding. Feel pretty easy with dreamweaver. yet i know few basic options of it. But I will learn fast .I don't wanna be professional graphics designer. Rather designing my sites and friends sites would be ok for me.Now Is it ok concentrating only on Dreamweaver? I know photoshop well and some flash. So if I can make a well combination of these three, Is it ok? to be a good webdesigner?

My another question " If I am very skilled with Dreamweaver (No coding) Could I work professionally as a part timer?

If you're planning to code sites only for friends and yourself, then I suposse it's OK. However, why limit yourself? You can learn HTML at its full extent and become a professional web developer.

IMO, no. If you don't develop your coding skills you won't be able to earn from this. Also, I believe you're a bit confused about DW. DW is a tool made to develop web apps. To code web apps. How can you get "very skilled" at DW if you don't know how to code mate?

I disagree. Using this feature to create advanced table layouts is great.
