Have any tried to insert keywords in to DIV blocks with Display:none? It seems google will record those as part of the content of the page, but in fact they are displayed at all.

Google sees them, because there are legitimate reasons you would want to do it (aside from hiding keywords), like DHTML menus. Although Google is getting better at understanding JavaScript, so it probably won't last forever (hiding DIV without DHTML usage).

Plus, someone could always report you can get you banned from Google for it. :)

    Google doesn't index what's in a tag with display:none or visibility:hidden

If Google would index display:none, then everybody would be filling their pages with bogus keywords.

Actually, people do, and then they get their domain banned when someone reports them. :)

interesting... but i wouldn't abuse it too much though.

I'm sure I read the opposite somewhere, but I guess i'll have to stop trusting what I read online... :)

It's a good lesson for you. You should never trust what anyone says. :) 98% of the "experts" don't have a clue. Even less for the non-experts. hehe

That goes for me also. No one should take what I say as fact, instead they should check it themselves. :)

    Hi,
Just saw your invisible div tags discussion.

    My question is :

If I put a link inside an invisible div tag, would google see it and then follow it ?

    Thanx
