I've got a couple of blogs I want to put up. In a month or two, I hope to have time to generate some original content. I'm thinking I should grab the domains now and get a few posts up, so I'll be ahead of the game when I do get around to it. As an alternative way to get some quick content up, I'm wondering about automatically generating links from del.icio.us bookmarks, as seen here and here. Clearly, this method generates post URL's and titles that suck, but other than that, I have some questions: Will this hurt or help in SE rankings? Is there any reason not to delete the old posts once I start doing original content? Obviously (to me anyway), I don't want all the text linked. What percentage of the text should consist of links?
Last time I checked, del.icio.us onsite links were nofollow so it shouldn't really affect your rankings. Although you could argue that your rankings would be affected by the exposure and people linking to your site in forums as a result of it.
So Art, I'm still a little new at all this. Am I correct in thinking that no follow means the search engines wouldn't see it?
For SEO, del.icio.us and digg can help indirectly. I mean that they are not giving any weight to the link from their site, but if you post a good link, bloggers will find it and link to it.
