Alright, well I have a food blog and i was wondering if it is possible to like copy and paste content from one source onto my blog then credit the source.

example: i see a good article called "Forbes: Most Expensive Desserts in the world" and i want that article on my blog.. is it possible for me to use it on my blog and add the "source: "

reason I'm asking is because i dont want to get in trouble or anything :(

No, you can't just copy all content from other sources without their prior agreement. You have to produce your content yourself, or pay for it.

What you can do is to write some sort of introduction to the article and then link to it.

But I have seen many sites just publishing the articles copied from ezine and crediting the original site by giving a link in the end. To make the matter worse, some webmasters don't even do this. They will simply publish your articles as if written by them.

It is not right and it violates the copyright of the original owner. However, it is done all the time and many bloggers do it everyday. You may never have a problem but it just takes one law suit from a company like Forbes that could wipe you out.

If you do it once in a while, most companies will not have a problem. However, if you are doing it as a main source of your content, I would think twice.

yeah of course i will source it. i mean i think that if there's some good content on the internet, we should be able to post it into our blogs where our readers can read it. and no, i don't plan on getting all my content this way, which i am aware many bloggers do.

If you ask member of DP, most of them usually answer it by "it's copyrighted and violent Google TOS", most of us agree with that, however the fact the a lot of money got significant one by violating this TOS, easy money short term i guess

You may be able to copy content from other websites but from an seo perspective
it's much better to write your own content, the search engines will prefer if you
    wrote your own content.

    You can re-write the content.

Keep majority of the content, do some simple research and add in some extra points/content. If you can't write well or too lazy to do it, outsource it.

I outsource to a Philippines company to do it for me. Excellent service at very affordable rate.

You can also take a look at service forum here in DP, I remember reading a couple of posts offering similar service.

I agree. Write a small introduction and link to the main source

Only the writer of the piece can tell you, otbelite1. He or she may not object, as long as youy give due credit, and a link back to the page.

    Then again....

I, as a writer myself would not object to it.

I say do it, and if you have any writers telling you to take it down, well, then, do so.

Why don't you simply send them an e-mail asking? If they don't reply, which most don't, put it up.

    Excellent idea.

You can also add your comments in within the article. Something like: "My comments," and put them in throughout the article. Like sections, sort of speak.
