Using company/product names?

    Hi,

I am making a site related to a game. I want to know if I'll be in any trouble with the company who owns the game: am I safe if I don't use any of their images? Of course, I have made a logo that has their game name in it (not their logo) is that OK?

    Thanks.

You domain name or logo shouldn't include a trademark - especially when your site is about their product.

OK, so lets say the game is called "BattleFighter", just as an example. If I didn't have that in the domain, or the logo, only in the write up (which is text) then is that OK? None of their images would be used - similar/same colours would be, but the layout would be totally different.

    Thanks.

You are free to use the trademark term in your text (even page name) as long as you aren't trying to pass your site off as an official site. Similar colors would likely be fine - again, as long as it isn't creating confusion with the trademark holder.
