Using Co-Op Ad Network = Dropped from Google

Discussion in 'Co-op Advertising Network' started by symetrix, Dec 17, 2004.

Well this sucks. I did my daily keyword tracker check (thanks DP!) and to my suprize, out of ~90 keywords I track for my site, the only one I was still ranked on was the name of the site itself.

Thats right, Google has completely dropped me. Normaly I see 8-10k referals from Google a day.

Now here comes the kicker, the ONLY thing I did to the site was implement the Co-Op network a few days ago.

My only thought is that maybe
    a) Im penalized for linking to bad sites participating in the network
    b) Too many backlinks too fast (Weight 27k)

    Any ideas or comments?

    C) Google is "fluxing" and your site may have temp dropped from its index but will come back in the next few days.

Lets hope hey as there are a number of sites in your prediciment.

You know I thought this was true too but then take the best case example of Shawn's eBay page(s). It is still ranking high.

Ive got a half dozen sites in the network doing just fine. Its likely just flux- not the network.

I haven't used the co-op. there's no reason any sites will be penalized by participating it the network. what it does is to AUTOMATE a legitmate ad process.

I think Amaze is right on this one as well... I've been tracking some of sites similar to mine as well for the same keywords... the KW I fell off the charts for they have as well... think G is doing something.

come on guys and gals ( :) ), let's wait and see how this shakes out before we make posts like this

<edit>BTW, we had a similar site with very little actual content and copy. G decided to slaughter it a couple of weeks ago and drop over 50k pages. It appears that it may be building back up now. There are posts on here about large sites with little content and lots of links on them losing lots of pages over the last month). I would start there.</edit>

After the Florida update, I was upset that my site had been tossed into oblivion. It took a while, but now (and for several months) my site is #1&2 for my prime KW. Same goes here. Don't panic and do anything rash or drastic. Ride the storm out and have some faith in yourself and in what your doing. The coop is great and it's not going to be the cause of your site not showing up. In a nutshell, "Chill Out Dude" :)

    site:www.citylinkz.com

Shows that nearly half of them are leaving soon.... No cache, no 'snippet'. Looks like they are too duplicate and on their way out.

Don't blame the network when 90% of your pages (85,000+) don't have ANY content whatsoever.

How would you justify being IN the index? I don't see a valid reason. Looks t me like it's no flux but a sign of things to come for your particular site, nothing to do with the Network.

yeh - if the ad network is a no no then I'm gonna point all the weight at my competitors

Of course it's not the network coming in - but it maybe the links going out ?

Just a thought, what if google got all the links from digitalpoint like we all do to identify which sites were using it, then dropped the sites from the index? You could do some serious damage to your competitors then !

Then you could just make fake ads point to competitor sites and drop them - I don't think google would do that.

Or perhaps google would consider making all the ad links in the network carry zero weight.

For the record I think this network is the best thing since sliced bread, but it's a bit too good to be true, just a matter of time before the whole thing goes t***s up.

Why do you say that? The content of every page is unique and revelent to that city.
