Using Chitika in contextual mode

Hey everyone just a quick reminder- although the buzz seems to be you can use Chitika and Adsense in contextual mode together, (hasn't been confirmed for sure from Google that Chitika falls into their new guidelines), we [Chitika] are only offering contextual targeting to be turned on in your account if your site meets our current requirements:
    10,000,000 page views per month

Let us know if/when you actually do receive confirmation from Google.

    Thanks,

A little steep requirement don't you think? I work with a blog that made Yahoo's top 10 blog list for 2006... That is top 10 of all blogs on the internet. It falls just short of that requirement.

That tells me you are offering it to very few sites... what gives? Is it too much of a technical strain on your systems?

Sockmoney, That is correct .. we do offer it to very few sites.

    The practical reality is:
    a) Chitika is one of the few programs that lets you set your own keywords. This is working out great for most of our publishers and offsets the need for a computer to figure things out.
    b) Given Google's prior TOS, there were not many publishers around who really wanted this feature. So we were very selective on who we turned on this feature for.

I would assume that once the dust settles on these new TOS, it would make sense for Chitika to revise these requirements.

Well, I'd love to be able to use it. Yes, it's great to set your own keywords for individual posts, but it would be nice to have an ad in contextual mode in the sidebar.

This is a bit rough isn't it, given Chitika started out only serving ads contextually? BTW, I've still got the occasional original ad spot (pre-keywords), are these not running contextually now?

Also: confirmed by Google that contextual is ok as long as the ads don't appear like the adsense ads on your site,Chitika ads obviously dont.

Until Chitika decides to enable it for everyone, you can use Amazon contextual system.

You will also probably get better returns as Amazon is a brandname that it known by everyone.

Chitika is not known that much

    infonote,

As an ad network, Chitika does not supply branding for any of the thousands of products in our network- but rathers deals and promotions for other name brand advertisers.

Sorry if I might have sounded offensive. It was not my intention. Your support (Chitika) is excellent.

You are right because after all you (Chitika) is a medium for advertisers. Other sites like Amazon can send their products through the Chitika system, just like a newspaper.
