I Just read an article where the author said he uses blogger to make blogs and then links them to his main blog. Is this a good idea? And how far is it effective??

It's a pretty old idea. Google knows about the millions of spam on those sites. Find a free web host and do the same thing. I offer Fantastico so setting up a blog is as easy as clicking a link. This puts your link on a totally different site and it doesn't look like spam.

It can be effective if you mix it up and put in some effort. Simply posting an article with a link to your site wont cut it.

You'd be far better off using Squidoo and Hubpages instead though. Tumblr is another good one. All these sites have good PR and after you've created 6 or 7 articles you'll see a few adds and a little PR. This method works best for deep links rather than links to your front page. Alternatively you could interlink all your sites of this calibre (squidoo, hubpages, etc) and have them all link back to your main page.

Its just an idea. Not good one.Because, It takes times to make a blog(If you want visitors), and links from a new blog cant give visitors and they worth nothing to improve your PR too.

It is only effective if each of those blogger blogs actually has a decent following.
