I have a lead generation site with a blog that I've been working on SEO-wise since November. I'm in page 2 of my SERP and have been using a strategy of link exchange + asking blogs/sites I've been active on for years for links. I seem to be stuck on page 2 though. Lately I've been trying to add more content to my blog based on keyword research. I was wondering if reposting my blog articles to sites such as ezinearticles.com and goarticles.com is a good strategy for building backlinks to my blog.I s this bad for duplicate content and will my blog articles be recognized as the original content owner? If this is a valid strategy, are there any other sites I might want to think about adding articles too? Please advise, thanks.
Personally I would suggest at least doing partial re-writes of your articles before submitting to article sites. It should do more for your PR than just throwing duplicates out there. If you have duplicate articles posted to article sites, you can end up with alot more duplicates than you wanted as it isn't uncommon for others to just copy and paste articles from article sites onto their own websites or blogs. Some article sites also have rules regarding duplicate content so your article may never be approved or may be taken down at some point. Ideally I think you should be creating full re-writes of your own articles for article sites, changing the wording but making sure the core content and appropriate keyword phrases still exist within the re-written articles. Changing the titles would also be highly suggested. By having different titles with different wording but having the same keyword phrases and core content, you should see the best results as Google should not only pick up the backlinks but recognize that the content on the same page as those backlinks is closely related in subject/topic without being just a copy. This can be even more powerful if you have a site that has a focused niche (ex. 'upgrading hard drive discs for hewlett-packard laptops') as opposed to just a broad category (ex. 'upgrading computers'). Not only should having core content and appropriate keyword phrases still exist within the re-written articles help you get PR but it should provide important relevancy to those backlinks. That relevancy should do more for you in search engine results for your keywords than if you just throw duplicate content out there or had links coming in that were not so closely related to the destination. Here are some other methods for generating backlinks you may want to try, or at least read up on, that I can think of off the top of my head: RSS Feed Submissions Directory Site Submissions Top Site Submissions Social Bookmarking Hub/Lens Creating Blogs With Free Services (Blogger, Wordpress, etc) Posting On Forums/Blogs With DoFollow
I'd just concentrate on improving your blog or add more content to it. If you get the average person spending over a minute looking at your site then it seems to bump your site up the rankings. Also get hold of some videos (any will do) and submit them to Youtube with appropriate titles and a backlink.
