Hi everyone, I own a URL shortening service and I wonder if it would be Ok for me to have the following on the page "Our Shortar URLs are at least 4 characters shorter than TinyURLs'"?

Would that lead to any legal trouble?

This may be bad advice LOL, but feel free to do it.

*IF* they ever find out (which is highly unlikely) just change it to "Our Shorter URLs are at least 4 characters shorter than Our Competitors'"?

Anyway to be honest I wouldnt have even thought that they would have bothered even if they find out.

I would say that you've got a fair use defense to using the trademark (though I would put a disclaimer on the site that reads something like, "(your company) is not affiliated with TinyURL. TinyURL is a trademark of the ____ company") since it's a nominative use and there's no likelihood of confusion.

Let me know if you have other questions.
