Using an affiliate link for adwords campaigns

    Hi,

I recently signed up for an affiliate program where im supposed to create leads to an online program.

Did my research and found out that there is no/little Adwords competition and that the keywords can be purchased for 1/40 of the money I will get per lead.

But after doing some research on aff links and Google Adwords i got a couple of doubts:

    - Can I simply insert the affiliate link in the ad and directly direct visitors to the website of the company I am generating leads for?

    - If it is possible to directly direct traffic to the affiliate via Adwords, can I be sure that software is tracking this as a lead as the lead hasnt come from the main website with which I signed up to the partnership.

    Thanks

    Hello there,

I would advise not to use your affiliate link directly in the campaign but to cloak it to make it look like its pointing to another page in the same domain.

Please feel free to get back to me in case you have any more queries.

    Thank You

Direct linking is a whole 300 page lesson within itself, here are a few of the tons of concerns about direct linking campaigns:
    1. First and foremost you gotta ask permisson from the vendor. Many vendors are also advertising on google and will not allow you to use their domain name at google since google will never show the same domain name for more than one url.. so if your quality score, bid was better than the vendor the vendor would never show.. and they would be competing with you. (and if their rules say no direct link... guess who will never get the first commission from them.)

    2. You cannot hide or cloak or forward the url with google, as they require the destination url and the actual url to be the same domain... that does not mean the display full url has to be the same, just the domain must be the same...
For example I do recommend the following:
say the destiantion url = mydomain.com/bull.htm?cat=weightloss&rat=6
make the display url = MyDomain.com/WeightLoss
See all the formating that is important for display url and you do not even need to have a directory called /WeightLoss but the visitor will love how clear the url is... but remember the domain must match and google will never show two of the same domains on any page.
And the rules go on and on.....

Here is what I do and it gets me a good QS of 7/10 100% of the time and sometimes more as well as keeps my (bids low), So I think low…
I use the venders sales page, “my clickbanks vender page” buy a URL and have that venders info show up on my URL.(not a url forward, Key..)
So I never have to create content , never have to create graphics. Then run my URL with the vender’s info through Google keyword tool and let Google give me the relevant keywords. Simple yet complex :O)
    Helpful?

That direct linking scenario works well in general, since of course its ok for you to link to their sales page.. for clickbank as that is the reason it is there.

But keep this in mind if you are in a competitive field, which many terms will be both you and 10 other PPC guys are using the same domain for the ad... since you must use the domain name holding the landing page...
Remember google rule # 3467923.156 (that is a joke) says "I am GOD and I will never show more than one instance of the domain name on the results page so I will show the one of you ten suckers that has been haveing the best click thru based on what you bid and how many clicks I get.. as you folks know I am money hungry so I will let the other 9 suckers sit on the roadside if one of you has a super CTR... know what I mean....

Does not mean you cannot make money if you make great ads since you cannot control the landing page... but its a hell of a lot harder than having your own landing page and not having to beat out the other 9 folks...

But what ever works for you, only you know if you are making the big bucks or going broke.... hee hee...
