I gather clients specifications for designing their website and use AI (midjourney) to design the website and they I go and recreate the best looking option for the client. I find it saves me so much time tinkering around. What do you think?
Given that content should dictate markup, content + markup + user and device limitations should dictate layout, and then you worry about colouration and any additional style... having AI generate pretty pictures sounds as utterly bass-wackards as dicking around in photoshop or figma and PRETENDING those are design tools. Pretty much putting the hart before the course, and completely ignoring what ACTUAL design is. A continuation of the foolhardy idiocy found amongst artists under the delusion they are designers; utterly devoid of knowing the most basic of engineering principles that separate design from being just art unto and of itself.
I think it can be beneficial to use AI for providing a SKETCH of what the design could look like. Emphasis on SKETCH, because you shouldn't let AI construct a these elements, if I understand the situation and this is the case. I tried constructing sites using ChatGPT for project purposes, but it has no- to little sense of what looks good and what is the optimal element to use under given circumstances. Sure, you can ask for suggestions, try different settings, but the final design should be up to YOU!
I think using AI to design websites is the best way to save time and improve our workflow. But don't be afraid to edit. We'll need to edit them to make sure they're in line with the client's vision.
It's interesting now that ChatGPT supports the Midjourney extension. With ChatGPT, you can create any prompt easily and generate stunning graphics with Midjouney. There is no doubt that this is a wonderful and time-management formula.
