What are your thoughts of using adwords to promote a pagerank checking website? Big no no? Will just get the site banned? Thanks.

I'm not sure if your site would get banned (after all there are dozens of pagerank checking sites high in the SERPs, no?) - but do you believe that you'd get a positive ROI on an AdWords campaign?

What is your monetization of your pagerank checker? Are you considering AdWords purely to buy traffic and exposure?

I'd personally concentrate on tweaking your checker so that it offers something unique - that the 100's of other such tools don't offer, and then you should find it easier to attract links and rank organically :)

Im more concerned with building traffic and users than making my money back on it right now. Also, it does offer something unique - it will email you when your pagerank is updated so you dont have to constantly check it :)

    Thanks.

I actually like your site, and the idea of emails once PR updates - I've bookmarked it myself!

Just a FYI - the header logo is 50Kb, which is pretty huge for a header. If I were you I'd optimise the file size of that image to save on bandwidth once you start getting large amounts of traffic ;)

Thanks for the tips. The site is getting around 30 uniques per day, but Im struggling to get more. I did a few forum posts, signature links, ad banner at namepros, stickied thread at namepros, directory submissions and Im running out of ideas for TARGETED traffic. Any other suggestions besides adwords? Thanks.

Have you tried site targeted campaigns via AdWords?

You could always try adcenter (MSN) and panama (Yahoo) as well.

Will the site get banned from G for trademark infringement?

No idea. Set it up and see what happens, or, just get pre approval from G' before you kick things off.

Just received a reply from G. They just sent me links to "editorial and content" guidelines, but after reviewing those documents, I cant promote my site through adwords because the site contains G trademarks.

As I thought. Your domain name also contains a trademark term so Google could demand you surrender it at any time or risk litigation.

Unless you can disassociate 'page rank' from 'PageRank' ;)
