using adwords to feed adsense?

    hey all,

is there anyone out there not selling any products but using ad words to basically feed ad sense revenue? i guess it might make sense to do so if your average CPC is significantly higher than what you'd pay with ad words. but if you pay too little with ad words, you'll get very few impressions, correct?

    any experiences/thoughts?

I think adding adsence to your site when using PPC is a good idea. At least if they don't buy anything you still have a chance to get some of your money back from thier click. Why not?! I haven't tried this but maybe someone here has.

I don't think running Adwords to make a profit on Adsense will work at all. You'd defidently be loosing money no matter how high or low the CPC is. Adsence will always pay less than what you paid per click.

Definitely an interesting concept, but I think Big is right, you would always loose money on the proposition.

hmm .. i do not think so .. im currently running adwords to my site .. and my adsense amount is close to what i've spend on my adwords.

I think this is a good idea .. but you must find some good paying keywords to do that.. im getting $0.20 clicks normally and i bid $0.05 on adwords. So, I would think that if you can bid the minimal amount as me and have good paying ads then you are on the go. The tricky part is to find a good keyword to bid and have good paying ads on your site :D

Thats assuming you get a better ctr than 25%...pretty impossible I would think.

the only thing that still makes me consider this option (using adwords to feed adsense) is that while doing so you will get an intangible benefit from adwords as well (brand recognition, targeting keywords that would otherwise be hard to target using pure SEO)

Yeah I was thinking this strategy might not make much money (or lose a small amount) but you will increase traffic which usually leads to a further increase in traffic. Especially if you need traffic for a forum or similar website where user participation makes your site more attractive to other users.

I have thought about that alot and have come to the same conclusion...
The ad cost will outway the ad revenue.....

the only way it would work is if you could figure out a way to have a high paying page theme that generates traffic with low cost ads which would have to be some type of border line keyword theme like:

Pay for ads about "taking pictures" low cpc?

which leads to an "image software" page high cpc?

But the quality controlers usualy prevent things like that from happening...

It might not pay for itself but if a visitor clicked an adword ad they are more likely to click an adsense word. In theory this would raise your click thru rate.

I have been considering doing this to raise traffic to my forum but main main goal is new members.

This is a very good point. I might be the factor that could make this work with the right site design.
