Using AdWords to drive AdSense revenue

Discussion in 'AdSense' started by promisem, Jun 6, 2009.

I use plenty of non-paid ways of trying to drive traffic to my site, but at some point I run out of time each day and try to do things like eat and sleep. So I spend a little money on AdWords to drive traffic to my site and try to get back my investment via AdSense for content and search.

Even though I'm paying low rates for AdWords and getting a high click rate for AdSense, I'm only breaking even. Anyone trying the same thing and having any better success?

In the long run you're going to waste money if AdSense is your only monetizing method.

I guess google does not give good quality score on pages with adsense.

    Low QS means high bids..

Not a nice strategy nowadays because the keywords bidding is getting more and more competitive, and the price for the keywords bidding is getting higher. Unless you are going for keyword phrases with some high adsense paying niche topic. Otherwise, you will loose money fast my friend.

You are on the right track. It is better to do affiliate marketing than earning from Adsense only. Treat your affiliate marketing income as your primary income and Google Adsense as your secondary income, and this should be the way.

Take my words my friend. Good Luck!

You risk a ban from adsense this is called Arbitrage and you are not alow to do such things ...

Agreed with w3master, Google have been trying to close the net on Arbitrage sites that go for low cost Adwords keywords and send their visitors to high paying Adsense sites. It has been known to work... but not on the small scale. To make this work you have to expand and create sites in bulk (then the profit margins really multiply).

It's time consuming, and extremely hard to implement, now (with Googles recent changes to Adwords). But if you have the patience, time and know-how then I guess you could take the risk.

The AdWords terms of service doesn't say anything about not having AdSense ads on a site. The AdSense TOS has only two mentions of AdWords, and neither one says anything about not allowing someone to have both AdWords and AdSense accounts.

The help files have nothing about it. The forum postings mention sites getting banned that have no original content, but mine has 3,000 pages of it. Also, it has been live for nearly two years.

I can see why Google would ban someone for abusing the system. But it's hard to understand why they wouldn't want to make money from a legitimate site that has both AdWords and AdSense.

One more thought. I have had my AdSense and AdWords accounts for nearly two years. They use the same login and password. So Google knows who I am and what I'm doing.

I assume people who do illegal arbitrage uses two different accounts to hide their identities.

From what I have seen after some experimenting is that the AdSense revenue is almost always about the same amount as the AdWords cost. I can't help but think they have some way of influencing the AdSense ads so that lower-paying ads start to show up when your revenue gets too high.

After all, they have 200 algorithms for search rankings. They certainly have many of them for AdSense and AdWords.

    Arbitrage is definitely a no-no ...
This "skill" had been used many years back. People bought traffic from other cheap search engines like Msn, 7searches, adbrites etc and send traffic to adsense. You can't buy traffic from adwords to profit from adsense. If anyone tells you they can profit from it, they are lying ...

You have to buy from 3rd tier search engine where the cost per click is as low as $0.01 and direct the traffic to your website. But this will get your adsense account banned. Google is not stupid ...
