Hi, I am operating at a small upcoming forum. Now I am wondering if I should use adsense on it or not, will it bring in something, or is it too early? at what stage you should bring in adsense on forums???

Some say that adding ads to your site can hurt the number of users using it. I think that as long as it is embedded nicely in a manner that doesn't hurt the usage and UI then you are good! The amount of money you can make of a small site really depends on the niche and how lucrative it is....

It is completely up to you I think, but if you just starting out maybe it's best for you to hold on your plan to attach some ads on your forum because it might hurt your quality over time.

But there is going to a long wait for a new site to meet those number of visitors. Is there any other way that is faster for us to get that kind of visitor?

try getting a decent amount of users that would be alright with the ads up. if you put up adsense right away, it'll make it seem like you're just there for the money, and not helping out the users with whatever they need. so, wait until you feel like you've gotten to the height of your activity and throw up a few ads. or, you could just ask your members what they think of having ads on it and see what they say.. remember, it's the members that make your website popular so their voice counts.

Same way you get visitors to any other website. Build backlinks, article marketing, key word research and PPC, etc. etc. etc.

Well said Yugo. I think so too now. It is the quality of the visitors that counts not just some statistics.

I will say it is better to focus on your forum at this moment, try to develop it better and better.
You can simply earn money once the forum have grown and mature

Placing ugly looking ads on a forum just starting up is making things harder than they should be due to the following reasons:

    - Your site will look unappealing to visitors (everyone likes seeing ads)
    - It will look that you're driven to profit instead of driving quality
    - If you're getting a low number of daily visitors, you'll get zero to nil clicks

Unless you have a strong product or offer to support your forum, people won't be patient nor sympathetic about using ads.

Use them if/when the forum becomes popular, not sooner.

A few low key ads should be fine. Don't go crazy though. Most people do not even understand how they work, and may not even know you profit from those ads. As long as they don't make the site significantly less appealing, you mine as well make some money as you build up your forum.

I've used adsense on several forums for years. The adsense ads from the forums actually is paying better than the blog section! There are more interaction and page views in the forum section and I would really recommend you to use Adsense. Increases your earnings! :)

Google Ads on forums generate a lot of revenue if you have a good % of unique visitors. Make sure you don't overwhelm the users with ads though, or they'll revolt.

fronier, there's a simple answer for that.

Ads should be on your list of rainy-day items, i.e. the list of things you get around to someday. Ads should not be a priority; getting good quality visitors should be your goal. Only when you are confident that your users are returning, and the number of visits is growing steadily, then you should think about how to profit from it. Remember, most websites are offerring a free service to the visitors; that is how 98.5% + of your visitors will view it.
