i am thinking of creating a directory site how well does adsense perform on these sites? I am completely new to directories and i wouldn't imagine that adsense would do that well on a directory does anyone know? has anyone had experience with it?
I agree, I don't think adsense is good for directories. Directories with high PR make money out of paid inclusions mostly
It all depends on the content of the directory. If it's an high-paying keyword niche, then you're more than likely to make a lot of money.
Don't think so, CTR is very low! so even if you have high paying keywords (which I doubt you can get form a directory) no one clicks them
CTR is indeed very low (on the few directories I have it on) but the clicks I have got were very good $
Agree.. I got my last click on adsense on the directory in my signature a few days ago.. but that was with a good CPC.
Adsense does exceptionally Well on my directory but you should bring more traffic to earn more then bucks
I think a directory is as good as a blog or content pages. It only depends on the content of the pages. I'd recommend to increase traffic and PR of your blog with the new free tool BlogRush.
Adsense and other CPC ads are performing very poor on a directory site. Selling text links or paid listings is the best you can do with a web-directory.
thanks for all the input guys it was very interesting reading about peoples experience and how they can differ so much thank you for the help!
Mainly get clicks that pay $0.06 from Yahoo Ads. Most days I get one click, and there are so many days I don't even get a click. I feel like it is waste putting adSense or YPN ads on directories. -- People respect the directory without ads.
On a directory you really have problems with CTR as most traffic is from SEOs. Unless you can get SERPs for your content to get normal traffic it's just not going to be a viable adsense revenue maker.
