EG: NAVIGATION a link a link a link a link MENU a link a link a link a link I'm just wondering what people would think; http://www.phoenixsupras.exofire.net - should I add a title above the links on the left hand side? --- PLEASE NOTE: I know my header isn't loading (I haven't made one yet!!) and neither are my links as the pages aren't there yet.
Headers for menus or menu sections can be helpful to your visitors. If they are, use them; otherwise don't. See this example of a menu with headers. cheers, gary
It all goes back to design. A lot of links all over the sidebar can look really cluttered and make your design unusable or intimidating for the average user. I am all for simplicity and much prefer to have sub-items hidden away where no one sees them until they take a deliberate action such as a rollover or click. In that scenario, a heading is vital. In your layout here though, a heading is mostly useless unless youhave a distinct purpose for calling them out in different sections.
