Using a Network of Sites to Promote One Top Level Site

So here's a question for you kiddies.

I recently accepted a contract for a company, we'll call them Tiny Tim Realty. They have a main website at tinytimrealty.com. Then for some crazy other unknown reason they pay for a separate listing service that creates a domain name for EVERY property they sell. An example would be 123FakeStreetName.com

So they've got hundreds of those sites, which are often one page a 0 PR rank. On top of this they have two bigger sites, each with 200 or so pages.

    Here's my question:
1.) Would you build a pyramid hierarchy of links with the main business site at the top, the 2 other sites in the middle and all the crap PR0 links at the bottom linking up to those bigger 2 sites?

2.) Would you just totally go for it and post links on all sites back to the main business one, for a total of ~600 backlinks?

The main business site is ~5 years old so I think I have enough trust with Google to escape any super penalties if something goes wrong here.

Forgot to mention that all of those ~200 PR0 sites are actually 2-3 years old so they're not completely worthless. Just worried it might look a little shady.

It’s a good strategy if done correctly. If you manage to get some traffic to you mini sites, you can get large traffic to main site. Also if you can do some SEO work for the mini sites, you can get PR for mini sites. So you will have large number of links to the main site.

So ill put that down as a vote for a link hierarchy. The problem is I don't plan on improving those PR0 pages besides putting a paragraph of text with some links up. I don't care about getting their PR up.

Here is the strategy I am leaning towards. This forms the link pyramid:

PR0 sites > ~200 page sites > main business site

I think this will allow me to get a bunch of crappy links at the PR0 level, pass that authority to some alright sites that then link to my main site. Thoughts?

If it is important for you to boost your main site, then build backlinks from all of these small sites to your main one. If you want to optimize each site, then make a random link wheel.

if the idea is to build a network to drive backlinks, then there is no reason to keep buying domains and paying for them every year. you can achieve the same benefit (better benefit if done right) building pages on popular high pr web 2.0 sites which are free

Link wheel is an ideal process wherein you build micro sites that roughly have a 200 word article and a backllink to your main site. In your case as you have 3 different levels of websites you can have a pyramid structure or say 3 phase linked wheel.

so, would that mean the sites at the "bottom" of the pyramid just link to the ones right above them? and those sites link to the level above them (the top)?
