Google SEO : is it better to use smaller images ?

    I'm thinking of using a image size 960px X 300px.

Is there a way to keep my page speed fast enough ?

Maybe a redirect to my image ?

    Hello.
There is a "magic number" for image resolution for the web and it is 72 px/inch. This is the optimum resolution so you can get satisfatory image resolution without the space problem.
Use photoshop and go to Image/size/resolution and put 72 px / inch, then crop the picture to the size you want. croping is on the edit tab and it gives you a "SQUARE" that you move and can cut / crop the image to a smaller size.
    Hope this helps.
    Miguel
PS: since I'm starting in this site, a like would be nice =)
    Thanks

imageoptimizer.net is a very handy, free website where you can resize, compress, and optimize your images. I use it often.

Dont use too large images, longer your site load, more problems to users with low speed internet. Better resample image or try to lower size of your image under 150 Kb / large image.

You can use images of any size but they should be user friendly and it shouldn't disturb page load speed, it should also look natural..
