is it legal if say i had a website to do with Cars for sale, and i used keywords like cars, cheap cars, transport etc,But i also use keywords with nothing to do with cars for sale like these keywords: youtube pamela anderson Is it legal to do with? and i wont' get banned from google will I? ANd once i update my keywords for my site, how long will it take the google search engine to re-index my website and take into account my new keywords? And is there anyway to speed up the re-indexing? I've waited 2 days and google still hasn't updated my site.
you mean keywords in your meta tags? you can use any keywords you like, no worries there. Meta keywords are probably 3% of the equation when it comes to ranking, so dont knock yourself out working on keywords. Probably wont help you get ranked any better though, especially if the site has nothing to do with pamela anderson. I wouldn't go that route. google will take WAY more than 2 days to re=spider your site, especially if it's new and has no good relevent incoming links, you're going to need a lot of patience.
my suggestion is to make individual category for that,i mean don't mix up all things.and one more thing while u r targeting mixed keywords like this it will become difficult for u to get good ranking on search engines on your mail key words like buy car.
Key words in metatags count towards maximum of 0% for your ranking (in google) and precisely because it is so easy to add keywords that have absolutely nothing to do with your site. Don't try to trick google, try to work with it. You want visitors to your site who are actually going to be interested in your content. Ranking highly for 'youtube' is going to be very difficult - and if that subject is unrelated to your site, why try? Check the site in my signature for some basics on SEO.
Thanks for asking this question. I have been thinking about writing on these kinds of techniques. This is a pitfall for some SEOs. Your question highlights an important philosophical question: "Is the art/science of optimizing for Search Engines more important than optimizing sites for your visitors?" I strongly say "no." In marketing, this is called "bait and switch." Bait people to come into your store, then switch the products, hoping they will buy them. Don't do it! Sure, there are less competitive keywords that will bring traffic to your site. Use your creativity (as you obviously have) to think of better keywords that fit your niche. Unless you are selling Pamela Anderson's car and your cars have YouTube screens on the console Give us the URL of your site and I will glady offer you better keywords to build into your content.
Evmikna, if you find the time, could you give me some advice on my site's content? www.okasoftdesign.com Thanks a lot.
