Backlinks are very good for SEO,

Is this an effective way of getting backlinks???

Add my website URL my Forum signature... post to a forum topic at least 1-3 times a day, then when I post my website wil get displayed, so i am posting my website ona forum Everyday.
Will search engines see this as a updated backlink ?

Has it worked for anyone ?

    Plz share your experiences..

I don't think that works. While it may drive clicks to the website, most forum links contain rel="nofollow" or something like that, that prevents engines from follwing it, therefore not counting as a backlink

When I was new to seo, I did it. I still have backlinks from forums I posted in years ago.

It takes a lot of time signing up for forums, finding appropriate forums, posting, setting up sig, then making sure sigs are allowed in that forum.

There are easier ways to get backlinks.

I wrote an article about this, and there was a 70 page discussion on it about a year ago. They definitely get picked up, but as far as any SEO benefit, I think it is pretty limited. They unquestionably used to count, but SE's seem to have picked up on it, and I don't think they matter much any more. If you post a lot you do good referrals from people on forums that click on them, so they definitely shouldn't be overlooked, but don't count on much effect on ranking. They do get a new site spidered quickly though.

You may see some ranking benefit from the forum in the form of an "authority" site in your industry linking back to your site... but each forum page itself has a low rank because the threads have very few incoming links in most cases...and discussions that do get linked to won't offer much benefit because everybody has signature links which all get a slice of the page rank for the page (google specific).

It will increase your number of links only but it would not be effictive technique.

IMO they may get some weight but the most imp. of all is that you get few people to view your site... Well that what matters and who knows that, somebody may like your site...

I dont think SEs give signature links enough weight. Every little helps though.

I read that sig links do have some weight but it's almost negligible.

    mightyb,

You are right, every little bit helps. If you already are a member, you might as well have links in your sig.
