Using a Forum For Linking

I have been a member of a forum for years about the niche I am setting a site up on and understand about the whole thing of generating links through your forum signature.

things is, wont google and the other major search enginess penalise me if my site suddenly gets over 2000 links to it?

that's howe many posts I have in that particular forum and I'm just concerned that generating that many links all in one go will look suspicious although it wouldn't be.

I seriously doubt Google puts much, if any, weight into sig links any longer.

It will take months for the whole 2,000 links to be indexed. Besides think about it, if you were penlized doing this virtually everyone on DP would be penalized. Also i could stick your link in my sig and kill your site.

Signature links are good to get traffic and that is what you will get from all this year long hard work and efforts and time.

dont worry too much about google finding 2000 links to your site at once. you may have 2000 posts so far, but not all of those posts are active anymore. some are and some not. also, not all the posts will be indexed by google at the same time.

In SEO, Sitewide links are normally frowned upon because of the very reason that they can give you thousands of links from the same site.

It's your choice whether you go ahead and put links in your signature. If it were me - I wouldn't do it for a new site - it would have to be pretty established with a ready standing backlink structure.

If you make your links "nofollow" in your sig - then you can just use them for traffic ^_^

Many forums already make sig links nofollow don't they?

I wouldn't think that 2000 links from the same domain would cause too much problem anyways. If you suddenly had tons of links from different domains that would be different though.

I recently wrote an article on forums and link building on my blog too! Forums can be very helpful for developing links and increasing link popularity!
