I am wondering if its possible to use someone's name in your product... such as creating an ebook titled i.e. "Thank you John Reese For showing me the way" Someone has done something simliar wtih anthony robbins: http://www.amazon.com/Thank-You-Ton..._bbs_sr_1/105-2998367-6769262?ie=UTF8&s=books Do you have to get permission to do this?
If you don't use the name anywhere else other than the title, it's going to be hard to prove that you mean a certain "John Reese". For all I know you could mean the neighbor's cat "John Reese". Obviously that's pretty pointless, so if you write about a certain guy he might not be willing to be associated with you or your book.
It never hurts to ask first. But, if the nature of your book is positive for the business named, and you're not hurting their business, only a fool would get mad. Example: How to make a fortune on Ebay Ebay loves this stuff--as long as it doesn't talk about how to go around any system or anything they have in place.
If you do not copy him, That's fine but if that name is very famous and popular in International Market or in webworld, then, you will be violating Trademark. Be careful
Fame has nothing to do with violating a trademark. You could be a nobody and still have your trademark violated.
This has nothing to do with violating a trademark. How many people do you know who have their name registered as a trademark? It has more to do with violating the rights of the individual.
What do you mean by a trademark search? Are you suggesting I search for "Anthony robbins Trademark" ?
if you are offering totally different product that might work but again really do not suggest with the trademarks .. can bring you a lot of grief
Go to USPTO.GOV, click on trademarks and then search. Enter the name you want to search for and see what comes up. The search is not a full search, but it should give you a good idea right off.
