User Posted Copyrighted Images In My Forums .. Notice to Take Down

A user in my forums has posted images that apparently the copyright owner isn't happy about. I removed the thread but the copyright owner wants me to pay him $900 for the use of the images???

The images were not hosted on my site, they were direct links. A forum member posted them in an open forum. Am I liable?

I basically told the guy to f**k off, and that I removed his images, I'm not paying him anything. But does he have any ground for forum postings?

you are not responsible for something that is posted by member of your community/forum. If you get any copyright notice .. you must have to remove it. It is LAW. If you have removed pics don worry and don pay anything.

Just remove the pictures. You did the right thing removing the thread full of pictures and not paying him money. If he keeps on Harassing you for money seek a legal professional.

Yep I did... and I let him know I'm not paying him anything, he hasn't replied since.
